Those things did not exactly happen for our family, as my daughter developed a case of the flu on New Year's Eve and spent the night vomiting and feeling horrible. Poor kid! So we welcomed 2018 by going to bed at 10 p.m., cleaning up after our sick child, and waking up repeatedly through the night to tend to her. But it wasn't all bad, because we were still surrounded by friends and family, everyone was cuddling, and it was strangely cozy considering the circumstances. Always look for that silver lining, I say!
This year I am hoping to travel a little more than I did in 2017, which shouldn't be that hard considering we hardly left our hometown last year, let alone set foot on a plane to leave the country. My fingers are crossed for a little more action and adventure in 2018, both with and without kids.

And some of that depends on my amazing readers! I have entered a contest hosted by Kerala Tourism in India to attend the Kerala Blog Express press junket. They are giving away 30 spots on the junket for free to the top 30 travel bloggers voted in. I signed on to the contest late, and so I only have about 7 days left to rally some votes. At the moment I write this post, I have a grand total of 6 votes. So I need more than a little help!
My request to you, to kick off 2018, is to spare about 5 to 10 minutes of your time and go to bit.ly/vote_marti_kerala and register to vote for me. You simply register with an email and password - this is to thwart any zealous participants from voting multiple times for the same person. You only get one vote, so I would be grateful if you could make it mine! Voting ends January 10, which means time is running out.
Here are the steps, as the email registration process is a touch confusing:
1) Click on the link, and click "Vote Now"
2) This will take you to a log-in page, and select "Register to Vote"
3) This takes you to an info page, so fill in your name, email, and password and select "Voter"
4) Verify that your email is indeed real - this means heading into your email account and clicking on the confirmation email
5) Go back to my entry page, or search my name, and click "Vote Now"
There is only one vote per email address, which is why they have such an elaborate sign-up process. This format prevents contestants from 'vote-stacking' by voting multiple times. You will not receive any junk mail or be signed up for any newsletters by doing this. It is just a way to monitor the voting process. So to those of you willing to follow of these steps I say, "Thank you!!!" (On a side note, since it is one vote per email, if you have more than one email address, feel free to vote with each address. That is not against the rules.)
Imagine the beautiful posts I could bring you, if only I was one of the top 30 qualifiers! Image via. |
If you know of anyone - family or friend - who would be willing to vote for me, too, please share this post or the link with them. The Kerala Blog Express leaves March 12, and with your help, I could be on it. What a way to start 2018!
What are your travel plans for the year? Please tell me what you are planning in the comments section below! Best of luck to all in the new year!
I voted for you! Good luck!
